We first read about this superb writing instrument in the New York Times, in an interview with playwright Jon Robin Baitz, who said of the pen, “I thought it was a perfect little thing….I love its precision, its modesty, its clarity and its minimal fuss. This is the cheaper, more practical version of a Mercedes.”
The esteemed Kaweco pens epitomize two essential features of a fine writing instrument: classic good looks and a beautifully smooth “write.” Yet there are many other reasons this model has been consistently lauded since its debut in 1933: almost nine decades later, it remains modern in design and sensibility, and efficient in function.
This is the newest style: it has a silver (rather than gold) fine-point nib and its only embellishment is a discreet silver “button” on the end of the cap. Like the original Classic Sport, the body is faceted so it won't roll, it’s lightweight (less than a third of an ounce), the material it's made from looks like Bakelite, the ink flows freely. Pen is 4" when closed and 5-1/4" when open, thus the Kaweco slogan "Small in the pocket, great in the hand.” It has a screw-on cap.
This pen is made by a German company established in 1883, a venerable name in pen circles.
Pen comes with a blue cartridge and we include a box of six (midnight blue) cartridges. Additional boxes of Kaweco Ink Cartridge Refills also available for purchase.
