In the 15th century Gutenberg invented printing with movable, reproducible type, a development that transformed the process and enabled the creation of his 42-line Bible, one of the earliest mass-produced books. The cover of this journal reproduces an illuminated page created by German artist Gisela Maschmann, who has modeled her miniature painting on a volume of Johannes Gutenberg’s ecclesiastic masterwork, housed in the Berlin State Library. Only 49 copies of the two-volume Latin Bible survive today.
No detail has been overlooked in the design and production of this elegant journal. The journal features a magnetic snap closure. The cover is accented with gold imprinting. There is a memento pocket inside the back cover and a red ribbon marker.
